The Discover Downtown Annandale ACTION TEAM

After a year of informal meetings a group of concerned Annandale Area citizens and business owners joined ACT as Discover Downtown Annandale. The formation of this action team occurred in 2007 and was identified in the following year's Community Visioning Session as an area of importance. Discover Downtown Annandale is committed to promoting and improving the Downtown Annandale area of the community. In addition to the two blocks of main street/Oak Street it includes a two block stretch to both the east and west.

With the leadership of Amy Sparks and Sue Thwing a Downtown Farmers Market was established and conducts business each Saturday, June-early October, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, in front of City Hall on Cedar Street. This lively market promotes local produce/growers, artisans, a massage therapist, and crafts for sale. In addition the ACT Arts Action Team provides funding for summer Market Concerts held monthly. The Annandale Public Library has also provided music through The Legacy Fund.

Discover Downtown Annandale partners with the Arts Action Team to conduct an annual Downtown Art Crawl held each 1st Thursday in October. Downtown businesses host local artists and musicians and provide refreshments for the public to enjoy.

Currently Discover Downtown Annandale is working on the Clock Tower Park to be located next to the Windstream equipment building on Main Street. The park will feature the current clock tower, seating, plantings and outdoor art.
