Youth First Board Minutes
May 19, 2008

Call to Order: Chair Paul Manuel called the meeting to order at 4 pm.

Members Present: Tracy Reimer, Paul Manuel, Mark Casey, Nicole Wilke, Cindy Larson-Crawford, Jeff Herr, Karen Millner, and Mary Barkley-Brown. Guests: Scott Kerbaugh & Tim Prom.

Adjustment/Additions to Agenda: None. Mark made a motion to approve the agenda, Tracy seconded. Motion carried.

Youth First Community Connection: Nothing to report.

Secretarys Report: Motion by Cindy, second by Tracy to approve the March 17, 2008 meeting minutes. Motion carried.

Treasurers Report: No report was ready for the meeting.

REPORTS:

Educational Awareness: Business Expo: Youth First fishing gear raffle brought in $200, new brochure was given away; Annandale Advocate: Will be doing story on Community Clean-up Day.

Asset Building : AMS Youth Night: Canceled due to blizzard; Community Clean-up Week: Was held May 5-9; Mystery Service Day: 8^th graders were bussed to various locations for a morning of community service; Safe Communities of Wright County : provided a free crash car the week before AHS prom.

Community Connections: Morgan Report: Submitted by the April 30^th deadline; Volunteer Forms: Revised for fall mailing; WCFSC Quarterly Report: Completed; Youth First Budget: Working on ideas for Youth First to continue with reduced funding.

WCFSC Update: There is a chance of federal funding to continue the program, but most coordinators are gone.

New Business: Potential Board Members: Mary and Tracy had suggestions for new board members. Some possibilities included: Marlene Young, Tim Prom, Mona Volden, David Burd, Julie Gohman and Carla Wold. They will contact potential members by the next meeting.

Discussion Items: Youth First Budget: The executive board met to discuss the future of Youth First considering the greatly reduced budget forecast. After the meeting, Paul and Mark met with Pam and Mary to gather their insights. The executive board will be meeting with Pam and Mary in early June to finalize ideas on how Youth First should proceed. The outcomes of these meetings will be presented at the June Youth First Board Meeting. Mark cautioned the board that we must consider what would fall under the Youth First umbrella if programs are given away. These and other issues will be up for discussion at the upcoming meeting.

Next Meeting: June 16, 4 pm at Annandale City Hall .

Adjournment: Mark made a motion, second by Karen to adjourn at 4:24 pm.
