HOME > Civic Groups > Youth First > Board Minutes Youth First Board Minutes Before the meeting was called to order, Jean Just with Tastefully Simple brought a treat for all of us to sample. She explained the fundraiser and options for shipping. You can put the order together and charge 10% for shipping or if an individual wants it shipped to their home, under $50.00 it is $6.99 for shipping over $50.00 it is 10% for shipping. If you want to send Jean an email with friends email addresses, she will send an online invitation to them. Deadline for order is December 18th to have by Christmas. Jean will write us a check at the end of the fundraiser. Remember 30% of all sales go to Youth First. Call

Donations: REPORTS: Mary and Pam reported on the following Youth First activities: After the Bell/Teen Club: 22 students are participating, started Nov. 10th; Cardinal Buddies: 28 high school students are participating If you know of any other Big Buddies grades 9-12, please have them contact Pam; Youth Nights: One was held at Monticello Community Center, 98 students participated, sponsored by St. Johns Lutheran, next on will be Friday night at Skate n Place, sponsored by the Annandale Methodist Church and anticipate 100 students; New Family Calls: Have been made to new MS students, excellent feed-back; Box Tops for Education: Continue to collect box tops and having a contest with the middle school students; Visit Your School Day: Was held on Oct 10th ; Centennial Villa Bingo: Slow getting started and getting students to commit, due to scheduling of classes. WCFSC Update: Mary Barkley Brown reported that they signed a 6-month contract for collaborative coordinators to continue. Funds are very minimal and they are going to meet quarterly. OLD BUSINESS: Tonic Sol Fa Concert: Successful event. Board discussed both the positive.many good comments. There were 402 tickets sold and the profit of $2,000 for Youth First. It was a good night and left people with a good feeling as they left. Zane did an outstanding job on the introduction and Tims Slideshow was fantastic. Discussion continued on the possibility of having them come next year for the beginning of their Christmas Concert. Mary will follow up with Zane on them coming in 2009. NEW BUSINESS: New Fundraising
Opportunities: Apollo Male Chorus may be available to do a Christmas Concert
in Fundraising Letter: Mary
presented to the board a letter to be sent out to perspective donors.
After some discussion a motion was made by Jeff Lundquist and second by
Tim Prom to send the letter out. Motion
carried. All board members should
send Mary 10 names and addresses by Wed., Nov. 19th. Next Meeting:
