All Youth First activities are designed to build the 40 assets of positive
youth development into the lives of Annandale area youth. The following is a
partial listing of the benefits received by our local youth from Youth First
efforts.
AFTER THE BELL/TEEN CLUB -
Provides supervised after school activities for Middle School students.
AFTER THE GAME -
Supervised, healthy activities during high-risk times, especially after school
sporting events.
ANNANDALE CARE -
Short term, therapeutic interventions through crisis mediation and family
counseling. This proactive approach aims to strengthen families by resolving
problems quickly.
CAMP EASTVIEW -
Provides free structured summertime activities for students who live at Eastview
Mobile Home Park. Children join together for arts, crafts, reading, sports,
games, circle time and snacks.
CARDINAL BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB -
Helps students in 4th grade with skills necessary for transition to
Middle School in 5th grade.
CARDINAL BUDDIES - High
school students (Big Buddies) serve as caring role models and mentors
for elementary-age students (Little Buddies).
CENTENNIAL VILLA BINGO - Promotes
intergenerational activities between young people and senior citizens.
COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP WEEK/ MIDDLE SCHOOL
SERVICE DAY - Gives students useful roles in
the community and teaches them the importance of community service.
COMMUNITY YOUTH NIGHTS - Hosted
by five local congregations. Events are non-denominational. Youth First,
Inc. provides financial and promotional support while the congregation
plans the event and provides supervision.
TEAM ADVENTURES - Working
with trained counselors, students work on team-building
exercises, rope courses and non-traditional activities.
MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL
PARENT-INVOLVEMENT AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS
MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPLORATORY DAY - A
full day of enriching activities for Middle School students.
HIGH SCHOOL KEY CLUB - Kiwanis-sponsored
community service club.
