Wright County Human Services Agency is looking for people who enjoy driving
and helping their neighbor at the same time. The Agency has a program
called Volunteer Transportation. This program is used by senior
citizens, age 60 and over, and by clients of Human Services without other
means of transportation. A volunteer driver will take these individuals
to their medical appointments and some necessary business appointments.
Special needs for dialysis and radiation are essential to fill. Volunteer drivers donate their time when driving, but do receive a reimbursement for mileage at $.34 per mile. Meals and parking expenses are also paid when incurred outside the county. The volunteer determines how often and where they want to drive. The relationship that develops between the driver and the rider is the real reward. Volunteers know that their commitment and compassion enhance the quality of life for residents of Wright County. If you think you maybe interested in volunteer driving, in Annandale contact Kathy DeMars, Volunteer Transportation Coordinator, at Wright County Human Services, 763-682-7487 or toll free 1-800-362-3667 ext. 7487. Volunteers are needed so desperately, even those that can only volunteer one or two hours per month. Please call for an application today. |
