Communications from Lake Restoration, Inc. on planning for the 2008 season.  The board believes that our present program will be continued with funds forthcoming.  Any direct contract with Lake Restoration will be addressed when funding is secured.

Mark Obinger and Jack Ledwein informed the group of 2 culverts now running under Hwy 24 that were not there prior to the road improvement this past summer/fall.  Adjusting the flow of runoff, resulting in erosion, through the northern most culvert is being addressed by MnDot and Snake River Co.   Recommendation from the board at this time is to run all culverts on the east side of the Hwy to the creek, eliminating any new runoff through culverts draining into the lake or returning to original runoff solution by lowering ditches between driveways which would  allow water to drain through the soils.  CRWD Rep Merle Anderson will contact Rep Dean Urdahl and request his help in addressing this matter.  Rep Urdahl has helped us, successfully, with the past culvert concerns.

Heart of the Lakes Coalition HOLCOLA was presented to the group by Chairman Bayer.   The coalition is the cooperation of lake associations within our area that would like to enact guidelines for land and lake use to preserve the high quality of water.   Dues for membership are $100 per year.  Dick Anderson of Lake Sylvia and Dave Wagner of Cedar Lake are spearheading the formation of the group which will meet tomorrow evening, 7 p.m., at the Southside Township Hall.  A stated goal of the group is to not be political and rather be an educational tool for the community.  Motion made by V Lundeen, 2nd by Iverson, & passed by the Board to join the coalition.  Chairman Bayer will represent our association at the coalition meeting until a volunteer is found.

New Board Members:  Members Markstrom, K Lundeen, Iverson are all up for re-election.  There are also openings for 3 additional members.  Present members are asked to seek out  interested parties prior to our next meeting.

Board will meet again in Nov.  Chairman Bayer will contact members with the date and time.
