Annandale Area Public Library - Friends of the Library 
Meeting Minutes - November 14, 2006


 
Cindy Ahrens called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with 16 members present. 
 
The minutes from the September 12th meeting were read and approved (MSP Muriel/Jean)
 
Jean Peterson presented the Treasurer's Report, which was accepted subject to audit (Julie/Dean).   The balance is $4540.60.  Elizabeth Cabalka and Julie Sedey did complete and sign off on this year's audit.
 
REPORTS
 
Children's Programs
Thanks to Dawn, Story Time continues on the 3rd Saturday of each month, 10:00 a.m.  November's Story Time will be presented by GRRL, Ron and Cindy have volunteered to help out.
 
2007 Author Dinner
Dinner will be Friday, May 11th at Reichel's Event Center.  This year's author is K.J. Erickson, another Minnessota  mystery writer.

Library Board
Ron recapped the GRRL Board Meeting, the discussion regarding Maple Lake's proposed library, and the effect on Annandale's library.  The vote will be 11/21 at GRRL's board meeting.
 
The Annandale library board will meet 11/16, with officer selection.  Julie Olson is newest board member.  Sandy Otto's 30th anniversary party was very successful.  Julie Sedey presented Sandy with a photo album as a remembrance.
 
Membership
 
Jean Peterson is now collecting dues for 2007;  $2.00 for seniors, $5.00 for Individuals, $10.00 for families.  Please drop off next year's dues at the library, or contact Jean at 963-6581.
 
Librarian Report
 
Sandy distributed the results from the Library Patron/Information count conducted the first week of October, a sample of the Branch  Report she sends in monthly, and a list of Library Needs she will be giving to the City.
 
The foam for the bottom shelves, approved last month, has been installed and is working great!
 
Sandy is looking for a new base phone with 2 or 3 extensions.  Up to $125 has been approved (MSP Ed/Sharon).
 
GRRL's groundbreaking ceremony for their new library was today at 5:30 p.m.
 
We are still hoping for more assistant staff hours, would really like Thursday hours. 
 
E-mail notification instead of a phone call is now available for patrons who have requested books from other GRRL locations. 
 
This winter's adult reading program will consist of 5 "Books made into Movies".  Watch for more information.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Paperwork is almost complete, and should be ready to mail by the end of November.  The total cost of $405 is being covered by the Library Board.
 
Community Publicity
 
Three ads per year will be placed in the Advocate (cost will be shared by FOL and Library Board).
 
MALF Conference
 
Cindy and Bonnie attended this year's conference in St Cloud on 9/28.

Thanks to Cindy for all of her hard work in bringing the Annandale FOL to inception and in advance for her continued support! 
 
Budget
 
Cindy presented the 2007 budget (MSP Julie/Carol)
 
Dr. Janis Amatuzio Program
 
Wednesday, December 6th, 7:00 p.m. at the City Hall Community Room.  Open to the public, no charge. 
Dean has created posters which will be distributed to surrounding libraries and churches.  Cindy will check with Chuck Sterling at the Advocate regarding promotion and Ron will check with our local cable station.  Dr.  Amatuzio's $100 fee was approved (MSP Carol/Ron).
 
2007 Business Expo
 
Next year's Business Expo will be Saturday April 14th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
 
2007 Book Sale
 
Set-up and pre-sale will be Friday June 29th and the 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. sale will be Saturday June 30th in conjunction with  Annandale's 4th of July celebration.
 
Looking at options for disposal of left over books.
