Annandale Area Public Library - Friends of the Library 
Meeting Minutes - June 2, 2009


President Bonnie Gutzwiller called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with 16 members present.  Motion MSP (Sharon, Cindy) to approve the secretarys minutes.  Treasurers report:  Balance to date is $5384.33.  Report filed, subject to audit. 

Reports 

Library Board:  There is one vacancy on the board for a city resident. 

Publicity Committee:   An ad will be in tomorrows Advocate publicizing summer activities and upcoming events of the library and Friends. 

Librarian Report/Childrens Programming:  Carla will be handling story times this summer.  Sally will be a greeter for the coming story times.  Cindy and Betsy volunteered to assist with Make and Take on July 28th and August 18.  Dean will have more Friends brochures printed for distribution at the library.  Carla reported that some wiring needs to be done in the workroom in order to install a computer.  If the City is not willing to pay for it, the Friends may be asked to pick up the tab.  Motion MSP (Cindy, Ed) to authorize the Executive Board to spend up to $200 without prior membership approval. 

Unfinished Business 

Author Dinner:  Cindy thanked all those who worked to make it a success. 

Retirement Party:  It was a great party for Sandy and Barb.  Kudos to all those who helped. 

New Business 

Book Sale:  Sign ups were sent around for volunteers to assist with the sorting on Tuesday mornings at 9:30, set-up on July 2nd, and the sale on July 3rd.  Prices will remain at 25 cents for paperbacks and 50 cents for hard covers with unique books priced differently or sold on EBay. 

2010 Author Dinner:  Cindy presented the information on pricing at Classic Rides Hall.  The price difference led us to decide to continue at Reichels.  Cindy also presented a list of possible authors for the event.  It was decided to pursue Peter Rennebohm as the speaker. 

Summer Story Time at Elm Grove:  Sally will be holding a story time at Elm Grove Trailer Court and Knollwood Apartments once a week during July.  She has an adequate supply of books to distribute.  Motion MSP (Sharon, Jan) to authorize spending up to $150 for snacks and crafts for the story times.  Motion MSP (Ed, Cindy) to purchase a subscription to the magazine Family Fun for 2 years for $19.95 for the library.  This magazine will be useful for story times as well as the public.

Next meetings are 9/15, 11/17

All members are invited to a potluck at Sandy Ottos home on July 9th at noon.
