Meeting Minutes - March 27, 2012


 Co-President Julie called the meeting to order at 7pm with 9 members present. The minutes from the November 1st, 2011 meeting were read with a motion to accept. (MSP Ron/Dean).

Dean gave the Treasurer's report. The balance as of 3/27 is $6321.90. Report filed, subject to audit. 

Librarian Report

Carla reported on the Winter Reading Program: 143 participants with 1680 books read.  Winners of the E-Readers, blankets and mugs were notified.

Money raised during the 2011 High $5 Campaign was used for the Feb 29th RadZoo-Reptile, Amphibian Discovery Zoo program.  60 adults and children attended this program.  This year’s High $5 Campaign runs through March.

March 10th Legacy event: Basic Digital Photography Class taught by John Pennoyer, 15 people participated.

A stain glass panel will be installed in the children’s area, donated by the family of Ellen Wilder.  The artist will provide a mock up for the remaining panels in the event that someone else would like to add to the lake scene.

Upcoming Programming:

            Summer Reading Program theme is “Dream Big Read”.  Motion to accept $500 expenditure for decor and prizes (MSP Dean/Elizabeth).

            Jenny Moe will return this summer to do Story Times, $300 (MSP Sandy/Ron)

            Carla is checking with Susan Iida-Pederson to do a “Dream Board” program.

            June plans include a visit from the Minnesota Zoo.

            Seven Legacy programs are planned between June 6th and July 28th.

New shelving has been installed for CD’s.  FOL and Imp Club will split the cost, when Dean receives the final invoice.

Book Sale - June 30th, 2012 - Ron coordinating

            Sign Up sheets for volunteers: sorting, set up on the 29th, and the sale on the 30th.

            Sorting:  Tuesdays 6/5, 6/12, 6/19, 6/26  -  9:30 am

            Prices stay at $.50 for paperback, $1 for hard cover and discs., specially priced books and      cassette tapes.

Bendix Incentive Report - March 1st drawing for 5 bikes, donated to the “I Love to Read” program at Bendix by the FOL, coordinated by Sally.

New Business 

Story Time - Wednesday at 2 sites and Saturday at the Farmer’s Market.  $200 (MSP Sandy/Dean).  Sally, June 12th meeting.

Business Expo - April 14, 2012

            Set up Friday at 5pm

            Julie will call for volunteers

            New magnets, globes and water bottles will be available

FOL Meeting Start Time - decision was to keep at 7pm.

Carla discussed bringing in some Elizabeth Anderson paintings for an art expo.

2 patrons have  volunteered to do some decorating/display work

Next meeting will be June 12th, 7pm.
